In the midst of the intense debate surrounding the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) match and allegations of spot-fixing, a startling piece of news has emerged – Durbar Rajshahi’s Enamul Haque Bijoy has been prohibited from leaving the country. Following the spread of this news on Saturday, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) took the opportunity to clarify its stance, labeling the reports as mere rumors. Reports began circulating on Saturday morning that Bijoy had been temporarily barred from leaving the country by the relevant authorities due to legal matters concerning the Anti-Corruption Code as part of the investigation into fixing. However, the BCB has sought to dispel any confusion regarding this matter by releasing an official statement.
The BCB statement said,
“The BCB would like to state clearly that it is not aware of any such action being taken against Enamul Haque and confirms that it has not received any notification regarding any official restrictions on him.”
The news about Vijay being banned from leaving the country primarily stems from the investigation into the fixing issues in this year’s BPL, which is being handled by AKSU. Some potential cricketers from Durbar Rajshahi have been mentioned in this context, including Vijay, who lost the captaincy of Rajshahi midway through the tournament. The BCB has also provided clarification regarding its stance on this matter.
“The BCB has also been alerted to media coverage of potential anti-corruption issues surrounding the BPL. The Board reiterates its strong commitment to upholding the integrity and spirit of the game. The BCB strictly adheres to the ICC Anti-Corruption Code for participating teams and maintains a zero-tolerance policy against any form of corruption. The BCB Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU), as part of its ongoing efforts, is in the process of forming an independent investigation team to further assist the ACSU in its investigation.”
